FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE 1984 What’s the secret, it’s almost law I’ve heard what you got to say, on TV before All around me, they’re moving on I’m stuck here for what seems way too long You think I’ll see my day Is that what you want to say But in the thick of the night You truly feel I’m losing my sight No, I’m not gonna do this… For the rest of my life I’ve been watching, you’ve got the feeling That itch, that urge, that thought of leaving I can’t help it, so go on ahead Don’t worry I’ve been there before, alone in bed So you think I’ll see my day Is that what you want to say But in the thick of the fight You truly think I’m losing my sight No, I’m not gonna do this… For the rest of my life
2.
WHERE DO YOU GO FROM HERE? 1986 You’ve been sliding across society for a long time now You’ve bucked the bulls on wall street You’ve slummed with the bums on canal street You’ve lived the nouvo-riche You’ve eaten their spinach quiche Your friends, your enemies, they’re both the same They’re just people you’re running through time with So get down off your horse and take the blame Quit hiding your lies, quit taking the fifth, think Where, do you go from here ? To be a good and honest guy, aint so simple in this world now They make the rules, you break ‘em If you don’t know the lines, you fake ‘em You got to think twice before you trust Or wind up dead over careless lust You try to understand the pieces of the puzzle But each piece you find, just contradicts the other You can’t make them fit man, you’re having so much trouble Making it all work, putting it together Where, do you go from here?
3.
ANOTHER LOG 02:56
ANOTHER LOG You look at me I look at you You’re driving me crazy But to you I’m nothing new You’re in my dreams I’m just in your way You keep ending the game That I still want to play (chorus) Throw another log on the fire Watch me burn up inside with desire Throw another log on the fire And watch me burn away Burn away You try to get away I follow behind I don’t know what to say Just that you’re being unkind I’m a foolish boy You’re a girl that’s been around I feel like a toy That you keep tossing on the ground (chorus) But I still look at you And you lead me in To that feeling so blue That keeps burning me up, burning me up Burning
4.
DON’T LAY DOWN 1985 Modern problems in the modern world Do they stand up to old fashion remedies? Can you guess what’s going on? Has it been programmed into memory? (chorus) When you go running for that open door After you bought up everything in the store And you still haven’t got What you came here for You better start to Dance and sing man, do anything man Dance and sing but don’t lay down, not you Dance and sing man, show them your thing man Dance and sing, but don’t lay down, not you Sow them a thing or two With a flip of a page in the daily rag You see what’s hip today turn obsolete And the time it takes to draw another drag You missed the bus; there it goes on down the street (chorus)
5.
IN LOVE ALL ALONE I was just feeling Like a bum on the subway God knows what I did To keep my seat and stay Wherever I went I’d hear the awful pain Down on your knee’s boy I’d say, oh please Mr. I can’t take it again (chorus) So, don’t hang up When you hear my voice On your telephone Stay close to me Don’t let me be In love all alone I read the book My life fits the story Up to the part Where the hero, gets the glory Like a cartoonist Poking fun at reality I think of you and see What I’m doing here Aint all that funny (chorus)
6.
LYING UNDER COVER 1982 Two is company, Three is a crowd Well one aint enough When the music’s so loud Friends to the left Lovers to the right I’m standing in the middle With no escape in sight I’m lying under cover, you can’t believe a word I say Everything happens At three in the morning When the air is cool And the stars are shining It took too long For me to realize And now it’s too late For me to compromise When I’m lying under cover, you can’t believe a word I say Ooo, I don’t like the games I have to play Ooo, I wish it wouldn’t be that way
7.
INSANE 03:38
INSANE 1985 Don’t hand me that insanity line Even though it works on them most of the time Of course there’s something wrong with your head For you to take a gun and shoot that girl dead, they say you were (chorus) Insane, you didn’t know what you were doing Insane, you were someone else back then they say you were Not to blame, you’re a sick human being Insane, you won’t do it again You talk to yourself, stand around unaware And tell the doctor you don’t remember, you swear They give you pills to keep the meanness away Pat you on the head and let you out to play, they say you are (chorus) Just watch him now Now it don’t take long, we see you’re at it again Doing something bad and they haul you back in You go see your shrink and you you’re out the door There’s nothing we can do, ‘cause it’s the law, that say’s you are (chorus)
8.
TOO BAD 03:33
TOO BAD 1982 Why don’t I just put a ring through my nose? Change my style, change my clothes It’s such a shame this love of mine Makes me want to go and commit a terrible crime Well that’s just too bad They keep on telling me I keep my head in hand That’s just too bad Got to get over this is just too bad for me. I told my brain, hey why don’t you take a walk Go find another for your ego to stalk I can’t get my rocker to roll no more I can’t get my soul, to quit lying there dead on the floor Well that’s just too bad… When that wagon rolls in, I keep on boarding it The price goes up and I keep on paying it My world keeps spinning but who the hell is turning it I go to church and I keep on praying But that man upstairs, he keeps on saying Well that’s just too bad…
9.
LET ME HAVE A QUARTER At ten pm, five little gypsies Down from the Martinique Make their way, from that welfare cage To the money pit Penn Station See our future, begging and stealing Running wild like dogs The beat cop says, we’re zoo keepers here It’s a sorry situation (chorus) Hey man, let me have a quarter… Hear the children sing Toss them out, like a pair of old shoes Bounce them from bed to bed A desperate band, these urban nomads Street kids of the big city When you’re hungry your values change fast Don’t blame the child that commits the crime Hear their cries, oh, city fathers May your system have pity (chorus) It’s an all-night theatre where the weirdos roam An all night stand off For the New York generation It’s an under-world exploit or be exploited Ride the down bound train With a ticket to no destination (chorus)
10.
BACK THEN 03:58
BACK THEN I remember the not too distant past I was still a kid in school And my soul embraced the sky Everything was like on fire And it made my small world shine As it burned and slowly died (chorus) Every dream was precious Every passion and every sigh Every dream was precious… Back then Tender lessons in the facts of life That she gave me on our time They would always slip away Life took place within my dreams And my eyes were wet with tears As the sun went up each day (chorus) How I wish I could stay young Just the same old kid in school With a soul to hug the sky All I want is another red hot dream And to care just how it feels Without ever knowing why (chorus)

about

Thirty-three years ago, the band Loose Change was formed. The original members, Jim Falco on bass, Frank Fusco on guitar, Joe Fusco on drums and Doug Martines on Lead vocal, keyboard and guitar created a sound all their own. The lineup changed over time to include Rich Schwarz on guitar, Steve McCluskey and Pete Lee on drums and Freddy Sullivan on keys. Over the two years they were together, not only did they perform all over Long Island and NYC, they also managed to record 18 songs, never formally releasing any of them… until now.
Long overdue, here are ten re-mastered original recordings by the band Loose Change….
